The inspiration for this painting was an Indian peasant girl dressed in a colourful sari in Rajasthan, observed when travelling to the desert city of Jaisalmer. The sari is the traditonal dress of women in India, consisting of a very long piece of cloth swathed around the body. Indian girls, such as this, traditionally can carry heavy objects on their head, obviously resulting in impressive poise! This picture is already framed.
