The Pepperpot in Godalming

Painting of Pepperpot, previously the Town Hall of Godalming
An Original Painting by Stanscapes:     Acrylics on Canvas 40 x 50 cm (16 x 20 inches)

The Pepperpot is the well-known landmark at a cross-roads in the centre of the town. It was built by public subscription in 1814 and became the marketplace and Town Hall. With the availability 125 years ago of hydroelectricity from the River Wey, Godalming became the first town in the world to have a public electricity supply and public lighting.
