| Red Tarns are 1250 ft above Mount Cook village and were named from the red pond weed that grows in them. They offer a spectacular panorama of the Hooker Valley with snow capped Mount Cook, the highest mountain in New Zealand in the background towards the right of this painting. The area has become an outstanding ski resort in South Island of NZ. |
